隔离墩模具特别是热固性塑料模具的型腔部分大都必须进行热处理。这就要求钢材具有较好的淬透性和很小的变形。一般热塑性塑料成形用模具,采用调质、预硬化等处理即可。而热固性塑料成形用模具则必须淬硬。钢模具的凹型腔时常采用放电加工,放电加工后表面的硬化层要浅,以便于抛光。抛光在隔离墩模具的型腔加工中是最耗时间的。时间长则增加成本。目前对自动抛光的技术尚未达到实用阶段,仍然以手工抛光为主。硬化层厚则抛光工时增大。

cavity of thermosetting plastic mould, must be heat treated. This
requires that the steel has good hardenability and very little
deformation. The mould for general thermoplastic forming can be treated
by quenching and tempering, pre hardening and so on. Thermosetting
plastic forming dies must be hardened. The concave cavity of the steel
mould is often discharged by EDM, and the hardened layer on the surface
after discharge is shallow so as to be easy to polish. Polishing is the
most time-consuming in the cavity mold processing of the isolation pier.
Longer hours increase costs. At present, the automatic polishing
technology has not yet reached the practical stage, but still mainly
manual polishing. When the hardened layer thickness is increased, the
polishing time is increased.
